BEFORE OR AFTER

If you have friends or neighbors who are LDS (Mormon), part of their belief system is that they (according to their founder Joseph Smith) become gods in the afterlife.

They’ll say that they believe in the Bible, but that’s just not actually true. Isaiah 43:10 reveals that God said:

“You are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may consider and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me no god was formed, and after Me none will come.

King Jesus said, “But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its collapse!”

Mormons will typically respond that passages of Scripture they disagree with have been reinterpreted so many times that the original meaning has been lost. This too is false. The Hebrew Scriptures have been shown to be incredibly accurate by numerous geological finds over the centuries.

The Bible itself reveals in Psalm 119:89 that the Word of God is established (firmly fixed) in heaven forever. It’s actually people, like their founder and prophet Joseph Smith, who twist and pervert the Scriptures by taking them out of context and reinterpreting them for sinful agendas.

They’ll often say that they believe in the same Jesus that Christians do, but this too is false. Christians believe that Jesus was the incarnation of the Son of God, one of the three distinct persons of eternal Holy Trinity. Saying you love watermelon while eating a pear doesn't make it watermelon.

They believe that Jesus was just a regular bro who just did all the right stuff and made all the right decisions in order to -ascend- to “godhood.” That’s not our Jesus. That's not the Christ of Scripture.

King Jesus came to break the chains of sin as the universal blessing to humanity in fulfillment of the Abrahamic covenant (Gen 12:3). He did NOT come to teach us how to be morally upright sinners banking on our actions and self-righteousness to become gods.

Being “good” will never get us into heaven. That’s why King Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

Our subjective notion of “goodness” won’t get anyone into the Father’s house any more than it’ll get us access to a private residence in an exclusive neighborhood. Being "good" won't get us into the movies, so why do we think it'll get us into heaven???

It's not about “goodness.” We don’t get into celebrity's house because we know who they are. We can't just waltz into Michael Jordan's house even if we paid for tickets to an NBA game. We only get into someone's home if the owner knows us. If we reject the God of Scripture and deny Christ Jesus as our LORD and Savior, then why would the Father invite us into His house?

Mormons reject the authority of Scripture to the point of adding to it (Book of Mormon, etc.). They deny Christ Jesus as the Eternal Logos and Son of God. They believe they will one day become gods, which is precisely what the serpent was hoping for in Eden.

Mormonism is a religious cult that leads people into a fanciful delusion of twisted lies. Those who follow down that road are on the wide path that leads to destruction, separation from God, and everlasting torment.

As Christians, we need to know what the lost, deluded, and disillusioned believe so that we can give an intelligent and loving response. The truth isn’t hate speech. As Peter wrote in 1 Peter 3:15, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…”
