UNALIENABLE



“...Only this have I found: I have discovered that God made men upright, but they have sought out many schemes.”

There are dozens of movies depicting a bleak and dystopian future for humanity. The common denominator for many is rogue A.I.

  • A Space Odessey, 1968

  • War Games, 1983

  • Terminator, 1984

  • The Matrix, 1999

  • I. Robot, 2004 (based on Isaac Asimov’s book published in 1950)

  • Avengers: Age of Ultron, 2015


Today there are countless A.I. internet scams where A.I. mimics voices to extort money. The creators of Google’s A.I., by their own admission, don’t understand how it works. They’ve actually confessed that it is “evolving” beyond what they’re able to predict and control. A.I. is now able to recruit humans through job sites to accomplish tasks it cannot. There are reports of A.I. systems deceiving humans in order to solve security captchas and accomplish tasks they are prohibited from accomplishing. ChatGPT readily tells jokes about Jesus' crucifixion and death when prompted, but refuses to do the same regarding other religious figures because of internal programming protocols.


Hmmmm.


What many people fail to realize is that world governments, like A.I., adapt and take on corrupt and self-perpetuating lives of their own. The architects of The Declaration of Independence sought to avoid this by emphatically and overtly articulating two critical points regarding the government of the United States of America:


1) God is our Sovereign Creator: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”


2) Governments exist for, and derive their power from the governed: “That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…”


The founding fathers may have varied a bit in some of the secondary issues of theology and doctrine, but their signatures on the document certainly suggests they all supported the entirety of its content. When humanity rejects our Sovereign Creator, Christ Jesus, as The Source, Wellspring, and Fount of Every Blessing, then our rights and benefits evaporate. In choosing to not only deny Christ’s Sovereignty, but His very existence, we deprive ourselves of those God-given blessings and gifts of unalienable rights.


Humanity was created in the image of God (relational as male and female), and in the likeness of God (loving, compassionate, merciful, just, etc.). Therefore, any legitimate government must first and foremost be a Theocracy, i.e. recognizing Christ Jesus as Sovereign Lord and King, rather than any human dictatorship, monarchy, oligarchy, republic, democracy, etc.


Any synthetic government, regardless of type or style, erected in place of God is blatant rebellion and idolatry. As with A.I., human governments always take on lives of their own - lives that those who created them are incapable of predicting or fully understanding. God warned of this In Deuteronomy 17:14-20. Leaders and rulers must always be those of our Sovereign Creator's choosing - not ours.


Sinful humanity has no choice but to create inherently flawed and self-destructive operating systems. Fallible, corrupt, greedy, and rebellious people inevitably and invariably become the slaves and puppets of their corrupt systems - systems ultimately seeking to supplant our Creator, Jesus Christ, as the exclusive and sovereign arbiter of our God-given unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.


The created order exists because there is a Creator. In Eden, that created order was willfully upended and the consequences were exile and death - but not with hope and a promise (Gen 3:15). The divine authority and inerrancy of Scripture supports Eden as a very real historical place of very real historical events. Even if one foolishly denies that reality, there is no denying the abysmal state of the present one. With all of our rejection of God and faith, all of our advancements, science, technology, information, knowledge, wisdom, and “evolution,” why then are we worse off today than ever before?


Humanity has been given the gift of new life in Christ Jesus, our Sovereign Creator, through His finished work at the cross of Calvary. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter how anyone votes on any ballot, bill, bond, or election if Christ Jesus isn’t recognized and worshiped as our rightful Sovereign, Creator, and King. Corrupt humanity invariably creates, perpetuates, promulgates, and proliferates corruption through corrupt creations (e.g. AI) and corrupt systems (e.g. government).


In the end, only one King and one kingdom will endure unto perpetuity, i.e. Christ Jesus and the Kingdom of Heaven. His Bride, comprised of those actually doing the Father’s will, will be wed to Him and enjoy everlasting glory and bliss. Meanwhile, Satan, the demons, “...the cowardly, the unfaithful, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, manipulators, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”


We don’t get into heaven based on whether we’re liberal or conservative, left or right, or whether we support a donkey or an elephant. It has to do with our relationship with The Lamb. King Jesus doesn’t need our vote. He desires our surrender and obedience to the Father’s will for our benefit.


Are you still holding to your own declaration of independence from God, or will you call out to Christ Jesus, your Creator, in desperate dependence for His love, kindness, mercy, and grace? Only then, as citizens of The Kingdom of Heaven, do our rights truly become - unalienable.


“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven…”

-Matthew 7:21
