“…and everything that does not come from faith is sin.”
The stuff the world promotes often looks great on the surface... until we dig a little deeper.
International Women’s Day, for example. Wow, a whole day dedicated to women.
The Bible, The Word, our Creator’s perfect revelation of eternally relational Holy Trinity given to hopelessly depraved humanity… it upholds women very differently.
First, women are made in the image and likeness of God Almighty (Genesis 1:26-27)! Women are not some inferior or lesser version of men, but equally glorious image-bearers, equals in every way, yet distinct, special, and unique in divinely ordained roles. That's the complementarian view of women vs an egalitarian view.
Next, Scripture upholds the strength and nobility of women. Throughout theological history (including today!) when chicken-hearted effeminate pansy-men dropped the ball, strong godly women like Tamar, Rahab, Deborah, Hebrew midwives, Moses’ mother, Ruth, Hannah, Esther, Mary, Anna, and Phoebe... they we’re rock solid, steadfast, courageous, and faithful deaconesses'- i.e. servants of God!
Furthermore, God’s view of women is so high… Scripture even paints the picture of all redeemed humanity being built together in perfect unity as Christ’s spotless Bride (Revelation 19:6-9)! And His Bride is precisely who Christ Died for (Eph 5:25).
The world throws women a pacifying bone of recognition with a whole day. In stark contrast, Scripture teaches and reveals the truth: women are divine image-bearers, unique, noble, reliable, courageous, beautiful, glorious, distinct, steadfast, equals, co-heirs, and daughters of The risen and eternal Victor: King Jesus!
The world gives women a whole day of recognition. Christ Jesus, our Creator and King gave His whole life and death, even death on a cross, to redeem us into His eternal Bride.
Celebrate that. Celebrate Him.
Blessings and love,
